I think I finally settled on my favorite application format (besides your package manager), Appimages! I know I am late to the party but it feels good to be settled on this.
We now have our own Matrix homeserver, and it is running on #RockPro64 hardware just like the rest of our online infrastructure! All our discussion/support channels have been moved to it as their main address.
Did I also mention it's open for user registration? 😊
OMG, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup 0.25.0 is out!! Massive update with the schools of magic being overhauled to be more distinctive and flavorful. https://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/0-25-magic-surges-out-from-thin-air
Expect me to lose some time to this soon... for now... gotta focus on CapTP (and update the crawl Guix package)!
It seems to me that people who need to learn #Git commit hygiene the most are the least likely to do that: they're Git novices and probably produce more than they consume. That'll naturally change as they learn about Git and start relying on it, but until then, they'll create sub-par commits.
To change that, I suggest showing them the other side right away. Let people read Git history and see how different commit styles help or break their ability to understand the changes. To make it slightly more exciting, hide the exercise behind a veil of bug hunting (teaching git-bisect in the process!)

Funkwhale brings music and audio to the Fediverse:
It lets you discover, store and share music or other audio.
The official website has more:
Funkwhale is a federated, decentralised platform running on open software, and uses ActivityPub so it is also compatible with Mastodon and other Fediverse networks.
The itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality continues to add a lot of great games. They have Celeste now, which is probably the best platformer of all time. Some other favorites of mine include They Bleed Pixels, Super Hexagon, A Short Hike, and Oxenfree. There's also heaps of tabletop games and asset packs for game devs. You need to pick this bundle up, it is the best deal in the history of gaming.
They've raised almost $5M now for BLM-related causes.
As a programmer, it's sometimes hard to fight the feeling that everything is utterly, terribly broken. That the only thing that sucks more than the libraries you're using is your own code. That if the world would just please stand still for a second, and let you implement this properly, then you'd be a bit happier.
At times like this, I read https://lwn.net. Linux kernel community faces way trickier problems than I do, but they still find strength to deal with those problems in a really handsome manner: not succumbing to perfectionism, not giving in to fatalism, not letting laziness to get the best of them.
LWN also provides some perspective and analysis. Seeing how little features group into larger developments remind me that the journey of thousand miles start with a single step.

Black lives matter.
Trans lives matter.
Queer lives matter.
Stay safe out there, people.
Registration is free and does not require any personal information. You can then submit encrypted support tickets that only we (the development team) can read. We're a small team with limited resources, so if your group can appoint one person to contact us and disseminate our responses that will allow us to serve more users.
For your sake and our own, please be cautious what information you share with us and consider plausible deniability. The less we know the better.
We develop CryptPad under an open-source license because we believe cryptography is a vital tool in addressing disparities in power. In case it wasn't already abundantly clear: we're on the side of the black, queer, trans, and other disproportionately policed and surveilled people that have faced prejudice for far too long.
If you're using CryptPad to organize and have any questions about how to use it as safely as possible please do contact us.
This account has been quiet for the last while because other voices are far more deserving of your attention.
It came to our attention that we were featured in this article (https://rhizome.org/editorial/2020/jun/03/digital-resources-for-a-movement-against-police-violence/) which recommends digital resources for the movement against police violence.
